In his own words

From the Artist

Darkness once marked my life in ways that changed me personally, professionally, and spiritually. In the middle of that brokenness, when everything familiar was being stripped away, the Light of Jesus Christ rescued me and led me into restoration.

In 2003, during one of the most painful seasons of my life, the Lord placed paint and canvas into my hands after I read My Heart, Christ’s Home by Robert Boyd Munger. What began as surrender became transformation. Through the prompting of the Holy Spirit, God birthed a new purpose in me—what I now call Vertical Victory.

About Kirk

Artist Biography

Kirk is a self-taught abstract artist who creates bold, textured works using acrylic and mixed media to communicate themes of faith, surrender, redemption, and spiritual transformation. His paintings are not simply decorative—they are visual testimonies born out of personal struggle, healing, and the restoring power of Jesus Christ.

Through layered texture, movement, and symbolic imagery, Kirk seeks to create art that stirs both the heart and the spirit. The cross stands prominently throughout much of his work, representing sacrifice, hope, victory, and the unshakable foundation of faith. Circles also appear repeatedly within his paintings, symbolizing unity, wholeness, eternity, and the completeness found in Christ alone.

Writing is an essential part of Kirk’s artistic expression. Every painting is paired with Scripture and reflective writing that reveal the deeper spiritual meaning and inspiration behind the work. Together, the visual art and written message are designed to invite viewers into moments of reflection, healing, and encounter with God’s presence.

A native of Central Illinois, Kirk earned a Bachelor’s degree in Management from the University of Illinois Springfield and spent 29 years serving in leadership roles at State Farm before retiring in 2018. Following retirement, he became a certified John Maxwell Team Leadership Coach, continuing his lifelong passion for leadership, growth, and personal development.

Today, Kirk continues to pursue spiritual and creative growth while using art as a ministry to bring the Gospel message of hope, faith, and love into the hearts and homes of others. He and his wife, Rebecca, spend much of their summers at their family cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks in Camdenton, where quiet moments in nature often inspire new creative vision and deeper reflection.
